CHOOSE YOUR GADGETS WISELY

When looking for a kitchen gadget, look for the tools that will significantly help you cook and prepare your meals quicker versus giving you more work than is really needed.  Also look for the gadgets that you know will be put into good use on a frequent basis versus once in a full moon or worse, be a centerpiece art deco for your kitchen drawer.  Before deciding to make a purchase, think about how you plan to use the gadget and make an honest assessment of how often you plan on using it.  I have given away numerous kitchen gadgets as gifts, since they make the perfect gift for anyone, but again, think about the usage of the gadget before buying for yourself or for othes.

COULD YOU LIVE WITHOUT IT?

Of course we could live without any gadget in our lives, but technology brings efficiency and ease with the many tasks we do, and cooking is one of them.  This might be a stricter way of selecting kitchen gadgets, but could definitely help with your budgeting.  Think about the true benefit it will bring to your kitchen and to your cooking before making a purchase.

PRICE

We all love a good deal or bargain, but when we replace bargain prices over quality, we usually get what we pay for.  Essential cooking gadgets and tools such as the kitchen knife, pots and pans are very important and I prefer to buy the highest quality.  The price point is higher but over time they last longer and does the job much better.  For example, a cheap knife that looks like it could do a decent job could not only be harder to us but could also be dangerous due to slippage and low quality of cutting capabilities.  I eat rice on a daily basis and the price for rice cookers can start anywhere at $25 to hundreds, but because I eat it as a staple, I opt to purchase the higher quality, thus higher priced gadget.  If you are looking at a novelty kitchen gadget item, pricing is usually an attractive selling point, and if you buy now you also get another cheap gadget to fill up space.  Focus on quality and skip out on the freebie, because most of the time, they are junk and you will use it once with frustration.

The theory about these is that with the different colors, you could distinguish your drinks from others and it is also reusable. 

Now a few things started to bother me about these products.  For one, I have accidentally choked on a few real ice cubes during my lifetime and could only imagine if these things got lodged in my throat.  The idea seemed like a cool one at first, but after I thought about it, it might not be wise to have this at my next get together, even if the colorful reusable ice cubes will distinguish the drinks.

Another thing, isn't water from the tap "free"?  I personally like my ice cubes made from water, if not then I opt for a popsicle, but plastic... No Thanks.  What do you think?

The cost is not too much and the space it takes is very low, it is actually out of the way since it is installed on the bottom of cabinets.  The holder is easy to install and most people who have them really like the functionality as well as the space saving benefits of having them.

Many people I have spoken to who have used this, loves it.  They love it because of the perfect portion size fit for a single person, a couple or small family to allow them to enjoy steamed vegetables.  It is also very easy to clean and is dishwasher safe.

The photo shown above is a very interesting concept.  I think the concept is cool and all, but aren't we fat enough in the U.S.?  Well, I say that because this gadget allows you to live in a virtual world, and you simply have to think about preparing and cooking the food which then gets transmitted to robotic chefs who does the work for you.  It is kind of like the Matrix type of gadgetry.  Maybe one day, I can just think about being a billionaire and then robots will deliver them to me.  Truly amazing, but truly fostering laziness.  The benefits stated behind this concept is the fact that we will no longer need to have individual appliances thus saving space.  No disrespect to the ultra smart people who are designing this but, aren't the robots appliances and if there are no appliances where will they cook the food, through their robot butts?  Don't ask me about where they will dispense the water....  Anyways, this is very futuristic and very cool. 

Ok, this next gizmo is called the, Bx7 Preparation Unit which is basically a gadget that mixes ingredients to provide you with meals on the go by just adding water.  Makes things more convenient and it is also connected to the internet... ok buddy, what gadget nowadays is not.  Anyways, the internet connectivitiy basically allows reordering of the yummy food capsules that will provide you with the nutritious meals on the go. 

Now this next kitchen gadget concept is actually one I would buy and my vote is for this one to win.  My only problem with this thing is its name, "The Snail", and you will understand why when you read what you do with this snail.  The concept is quite ingenious and useful.  Have you ever packed a lunch for a trip or for work and usually stick with sandwiches or something you can either keep in a cooler or doesn't need heating?  Well this gadget will allow you to stick this snail to either a pot, pan or mug as shown above and it heats up the contents for you.  The portability is really cool allowing you to cook with less hassles or to reheat your food.  It is also smart enough to detect the food type and will adjust the time needed and temperature.  Wow, I just don't like the name Snail for some reason looking like it is about to crawl into my coffee and give me a surprise, but other than that, I think this one will be the winner!

Here is a great product to get you used to that hole in one experience.  It is a very sleek fruit corer by Eva Solo.  I usually just cut mines with my knife, but this would be perfect for the perfectionist and for those who can appreciate the finer things to the very detail.
